The Greek Horse God Popularly used as logos and emblems, the origins of this winged stallion lie in Greek mythology. There are various versions of the birth of Pegasus, the most popular one being that Pegasus was the offspring of Poseidon and Medusa and was born when Perseus beheaded Medusa.

Its also told that whenever the winged horse struck his hoof to the earth, a spring sprang up from the ground. Playing the role of a Horse God, it is also told that he served as the carrier of the lightening bolt for Zeus the king of all Gods.

Apart for the interesting mythology, think this can make a cool tattoo :)
